GCSE Media
Project One- Part one
Advertising- is a promotion of a product.
In the UK alone, advertising industries spend 17 billion a year, this is spent on TV commercials, bus, radio, The internet, billiboard and celebrity endorsement. Companies spend so much money just to advertise a product, they compete to sell, so a good advertisement means more profit. they use different advertisment from the mall to tv. They use advertisement trick such as product testing in the malls, stuff like perfumes can be tested to see if the consumer would like the smell. The biggest amount of money goes to celebrity endoresment they pay thousands and millions just for a celebrity to advertise thier product.
Message and Values
All Advertising tries to appeal to the value of the target audience.
e.g.
Adidas Sponsorship, deal with the top
Footballers such as Gerard, Kaka are payed a lot of money just for them to wear thier shoes in a foot ball match because they are rolemodel for thier team. People who supports them are likely to buy the product that they are wearing so addidas pays them to wear thier products.
Adidas values are success and they want to be associated with success.
Can be positives success to be a popular to be sexy attractive.
it can be negative for different advertising industries such ad CK, Armani and most of the beauty industries sending message like:
→For Girls to be skinny- Anorexia
→For boys to be muscular
the reason why people think that they are sending negative messageis because the celebrity or model they endorse are always skinny or mascular, people criticise them saying they wouldnt make so much money if they had a big lady orbig man on the commercials.

TJ,
Could you please use these notes to answer the following questions. All GCSE work must be written in continous prose:
1) You need to investigate the advertsing industry. What is advertsing? How does advertising work? Why do companies spend so much money on advertising? How much is the advertising industry worth in the UK? What messages and values are within TV and print adverts? What us celebrity endorsement and why do companies want to be associated with certain celebrities?
Key Concept covered: Industry
Assessment Objective One (AO1): Knowledge and Understanding
Tasks: complete a report on the advertising industry that answers the above questions. Your report must take the form of an online blog. You must embed examples of TV and print adverts to help illustrate your points. All blogs must be through the http://www.blogger.com/ site.
