Denotation and Connotation









Denotation

- Lighting in the middle, mostly face and body with a plain back ground which make the audience focus on the person.
- Photography of the picture is all of his top body with paint of red across his face and body which stretch to his arms and hands.
- The Model is Wayne Rooney, one of the most famous footballers this day. His body and face painted with the colour red which symbolized the English flag screaming with his arms open wide.
- He doesn’t wear any clothing making the phrase “Just do it” a strong message telling the audience u can do anything if u just do it.
- Location is at the Studio Set
- The paint represents blood on his face and body.

Connotation

- His face is painted with red like the English flag
- It also has a strong patriotic sense with the red paint and the facial expression.
- Since it’s a Nike advert it will be popular with people who support the English team.
